Mutual Materials Dominion™ Pavers – For Homeowners

By Mr. Lee, Your Friendly Neighborhood Landscaping Pro

If you’re thinking about upgrading your driveway, patio, or walkways with something durable, good-looking, and easy to work with, I recommend Dominion pavers from Mutual Materials. These pavers are tough, versatile, and offer lots of layout options for different styles.

What Are Dominion Pavers?

Dominion pavers are pre-cast concrete units made to last. They come in three compatible sizes so you can build out clean, attractive patterns without a lot of cutting or complicated math.

You can use them for:

  • Patios
  • Driveways (except large rectangle)
  • Walkways
  • Pool decks
  • Garden paths

They’re produced to meet the ASTM C936 standard, which is the recognized benchmark for strength and durability in concrete pavers.

GLOSSARY

ASTM C936 – A performance standard that ensures concrete pavers are strong, dense, and durable enough for heavy foot traffic and, when applicable, vehicle use.

¾” Minus Crushed Rock – Gravel with pieces up to ¾ inch in size, including fines (dust). Used as a solid base layer that compacts well.

Bedding Sand – Clean, fine sand placed over the compacted base rock. It cushions the pavers and helps them settle evenly.

Joint Sand – Sand brushed into the spaces between pavers to lock them in place and prevent shifting.

Screed Pipes – Metal rods used under a board to smooth and level the sand bedding before laying pavers.

Plate Compactor – A machine that vibrates and compresses surfaces. Used to compact the base layer and, later, the pavers after installation.

Diamond Blade – A saw blade that cuts through hard materials like stone or concrete.

Pattern Names (like Herringbone, Ashlar, Muster K) – These describe layout styles for arranging pavers. Some are more decorative, while others provide structural strength for driveways.

Not Suitable for Vehicular Traffic – Means that specific paver shape (like the large rectangle) can crack or shift under the weight of cars or trucks and should only be used in foot-traffic areas.

Got questions? Want help choosing a layout or figuring out how much material to buy? That’s what I’m here for. Whether you’re DIY-ing or want our team to install it for you, Dominion is one of my go-to pavers for a clean, classy look that lasts.
