What Type of Emitters or Drip Line?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

For Shrubs:<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

  • Use drip emitters<\/strong> (1 or 2 gallons per hour)<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • Or use inline drip tubing<\/strong> (0.5 GPH spaced every 12″ or 18″)<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • One or two emitters per shrub is usually enough, depending on size<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n

    For Trees:<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

    • Use 2 GPH emitters<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n
    • Place 2 to 4 emitters<\/strong> in a circle near the dripline<\/strong> (edge of canopy, not near the trunk)<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    • Or run a loop of dripline<\/strong> around the base with multiple emitters<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n

      How Long Should I Run the Drip System?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

      That depends on the emitter rate. Here’s the math:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

      Example:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

      • 2 GPH emitter \u00d7 2 hours = 4 gallons<\/li>\n\n\n\n
      • If a shrub needs 8 gallons, that\u2019s 2 emitters running for 2 hours, or 1 emitter for 4 hours.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n

        So you\u2019re not watering every day<\/strong>\u2014you\u2019re watering deep once or twice a week<\/strong>, depending on the plant and season.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
